Small Hours

For people who are usually up later than they meant to be.

This is a small shop, run by one person, making shirts about the hours nobody schedules: the chapter that became four, the chair nobody else is allowed to sit in, the hour you should have gone to bed and did not.

Some of the shirts are only a line, set in type and nothing else. The others carry a drawing: animals drawn as natural-history plates, retro camping scenes, painted science-fiction covers, the odd late-night poster. Different lines, one position. Nothing bright. Nothing shouted.

How the shirts are made

Nothing here is printed until somebody orders it. When you place an order it goes to a print shop, your shirt is made, and it ships to you. No warehouse, no bulk runs, no boxes of unsold mediums.

That has one obvious downside, which is that it takes longer than a shirt already sitting on a shelf. It also has two upsides worth the wait: the range can stay strange and specific instead of safe and broad, and nothing gets made that nobody wants.

The tees are Gildan 64000 Softstyle: 100% ring-spun cotton, 4.5 oz, classic cut with side seams. A light shirt, and it is not pretending to be a heavy one. The sweatshirts are Gildan 18000 Heavy Blend, 8 oz, brushed soft on the inside with ribbed cuffs and a waistband that keep their shape. Both run S to 3XL.

How the drawings are made

I write the lines. Some shirts are only the line, set in type by hand. The others start as a drawing, made with AI-assisted illustration tools and then separated, cleaned and prepared for print by me. Printing and posting are done by my production partner.

I would rather say that plainly than let you work it out later.

What you will not find here

No slogans in a novelty script font. No jokes that need an exclamation mark to land. No design that exists because a keyword tool suggested it.

Where orders ship from

Shirts are printed and shipped from the United States. The shop itself is run from Singapore, by one person, at hours that explain the name.
